When you decide to do what’s best for you, it’s okay to experience feelings of grief, sadness or emptiness. The best decision isn’t always easy to make. You might decide to leave a job that is no longer fulfilling and instead making you miserable. You might decide to leave a relationship, even though you still care for the person. You might decide to cut ties with people who are negatively impacting your mental health. Whatever it is — remember that with every decision, there comes change. And with change, there is at least a little bit of loss. You lose something to gain something else. And for that loss, you have every right to feel sad or empty, even momentarily. Give yourself permission to feel what you need to feel. Grief, sadness, emptiness — know that your feelings are valid. But just because you feel this way right now doesn’t mean you are making the wrong decision. More often than not, your intuition is your biggest ally. When you learn to trust it – even though it may be difficult – you will be pushed to grow and make space for the things that are really meant for you.
